Enhanced panel communication – simple, safe & convenient

Under the new i-Option umbrella Konica Minolta presents clever function enhancements for the bizhub product portfolio.

The “i” in i-Option stands for such attractive attributes as innovative, interactive, intelligent.

i-Option is all about streamlining user operation and increasing convenience. With the first two packages now available users can not only extend the communication capabilities of bizhub systems but also make communication with PDFs much safer:

LK-101 - Internet Access

Although it always seemed logical and desirable, up to now accessing the Internet directly from the operation panel of an office MFP was just wishful thinking. With the i-Option package LK-101 Konica Minolta has finally changed that. The kit includes a web browser that provides direct panel access to Internet pages and data on the Intranet. It akes browsing the web from the MFP’s control panel just as convenient as direct printing of information from websites, emails, and PDFs. Follow-me printing is also possible, as documents in a user box on any other connected bizhub system can be easily accessed.

LK-102 - PDF Processing

The second i-Option package (LK-102) focuses on safer PDF processing by offering intelligent encryption possibilities. Digital ID is used as encryption certificate. A digital signature can also be added and not only shows whether a PDF is from a trustworthy source – it also makes tampering with the PDF impossible as it monitors any changes. The unique possibility to attach metadata, in particular keywords, to PDFs is of interest in a different context: PDF content cannot be recognised by search engines but key words can – which makes this feature ideal e.g. for the Intranet search of archived documents.

The same licence kit also includes an Image Panel function that separates the bizhub operation panel into input, edit, and output areas.

Document sources are displayed on the left, called-up documents viewed page-by-page and edited in the centre, while document send-to and output options including print settings are chosen on the right of the panel. In addition, icons e.g. for send-to destinations can not only be customised but even personalised by uploading images, symbols and photos. The result is a truly interactive workflow that’s much clearer and more structured, and virtually eliminates operator mistakes.
